The advertised price of a Premier League ticket is not always the full cost of access.
At many clubs, supporters must first purchase a membership—sometimes only to enter a ballot, access a later ticket allocation or earn the opportunity to buy if inventory remains.
The Price of Permission examines the cost of the standard ticket-access route at all 20 Premier League clubs for 2026/27, supported by three seasons of pricing research and 263 logged sources.
Every current-season figure has been checked against official club evidence, with the source screenshots included in the report’s appendix.
Key findings
- Finding 1
Standard access costs range from £0 to £50
Across the 19 comparable routes, including AFC Bournemouth’s free domestic Cherries Points mechanism. Hull City is treated separately because its £396 product functions like a season ticket.
- Finding 2
Sunderland introduced a new £48 gate
No comparable paid membership product existed in either of the previous two seasons.
- Finding 3
Price does not reliably buy stronger access
More expensive memberships do not consistently provide greater certainty of securing a ticket.
- Finding 4
Ticket access varies materially by tier
At Nottingham Forest, the £45 Core membership provides third-priority access, while the stronger Plus and Pro tiers cost up to £99.
What the report covers
- 2026/27 adult membership prices
- Ticket-priority and ballot structures
- Three-season price comparisons
- Family membership costs
- Price versus strength of ticket access
- Club-by-club official evidence screenshots
Methodology
For each club, the comparison uses the lowest-priced standard adult product that provides a genuine route to purchasing ordinary home match tickets. Junior, young-adult, international, forwarding-only, hospitality and invitation-only products are not substituted for the standard adult product.
Where a club’s model is structurally different, it is treated separately rather than forced into a misleading ranking.
Evidence
Every 2026/27 figure was verified against an official club website, official ticketing portal, club terms or official pricing document as accessed on 4 September 2026. The supporting screenshots are included in the report appendix.
